Air Astana has launched new service connecting the capitals of Kazakhstan and China – Astana and Beijing.

The new route, which commenced on Saturday (25 August), will operate twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) using a Boeing 757 with 166 seats – 16 in business class and 150 in economy. The outbound flight from Astana will depart at 1525 and arrive in Beijing at 2235. The return service leaves Beijing at 2345, arriving back into the Kazakh capital at 0400.

Air Astana first launched services to Beijing in December 2002, connecting the Chinese capital with Kazakhstan’s largest city, Almaty. It also flies to the northwest Chinese city of Urumqi and is planning to add flights to Hong Kong.

“Air Astana is delighted to introduce this new direct flight between the capitals of Kazakhstan and People’s Republic of China, which will allow residents and visitors of both cities to save time and money in flying between Astana and Beijing. I’m confident that the flights will further stimulate business, commercial, political and cultural relations between the two countries,” said Ibrahim Canliel, Air Astana’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
