Air Astana has launched a new online tool that offers passengers the chance to bid for an upgrade.

MyUpgrade enables passengers booked in economy class to name their own price, within a minimum and maximum range, to be considered for an upgrade to business class.

The offering applies to Air Astana passengers who have booked via airastana.com, who will receive a pre-departure email inviting them to visit the MyUpgrade site to make their offer. Passengers who booked via ticket offices and travel agents can also make an offer via a dedicated page on the airline’s website.

Passengers with winning bids will be notified 48 hours prior to departure, following which they will receive an email with the upgraded e-tickets.

“We expect that this new facility will be extremely popular with our customers,” said Richard Ledger, Air Astana’s vice president of sales worldwide. “Our aim is to make better use of our cabin inventory, whilst ensuring the best customer experience.

“Whilst there are is no guarantee that customers will be successful every time they bid, it does provide an opportunity to enjoy Air Astana’s award-winning business class cabin across a range of long- and short haul flights. It is another example of the airline using industry leading technology to deliver new products and services to our customers.”

Air Astana’s business class cabins offer on-demand in-flight entertainment systems, improved F&B options, access to airport lounges, increased luggage allowance, priority boarding and priority luggage delivery.
