Air France-KLM is targeting Australia’s resources industry with a new campaign to build awareness of its flights to Africa’s main oil, gas and mining exploration regions.
The group currently serves 52 destinations in Africa, and is in the process of boosting flights to major resources markets, including the recent addition of daily services between Paris and Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
“Many exploration companies operating in Australia, and suppliers serving those companies, have significant links with oil, gas and mining activities in Africa,” said Tom Reeves, Air France-KLM’s Regional Manager for Australia & New Zealand. “We are targeting those companies to highlight our excellent flight connections from Australia to Africa’s key resource exploration regions, travelling via our European hubs in Paris and Amsterdam,” he added.
To boost demand for these flights, Reeves said Air France-KLM had introduced “competitive pricing from Australia, specifically for resources companies” as well as launching a new dedicated rewards programme for the mining, oil and gas sectors – ‘Flying Blue Petroleum’.
Air France and KLM offer more than 110 departures per week from Australia to Europe, all though codeshare arrangements, which connect to their own flights to Africa’s mining regions.
“The resources industry is booming in both Australia and Africa, and we can connect travellers between both markets with our broad network of destinations and growing number of flights,” said Reeves. “We can also meet the travel needs and budgets of individuals and corporations in Australia conducting business with oil, gas and mining enterprises in Africa’s major resource exploration regions.”
