Air France touched down in Iran on Sunday for the first time in eight years.
The new service will now operate three times a week direct between Paris and Tehran.
Flights will depart the French capital every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1220 and arrive at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport at 2020. The return services will then leave the Iranian capital every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 0915 and arrive back at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 1240.
Air France will serve the route using either an Airbus A330 or A340 aircraft.
“Iran is currently experiencing a major economic boom. With our new direct flights between Paris and Tehran, we are supporting the country’s opening up to the rest of the world, and also capturing an important source of growth on our long-haul network. I am delighted to offer our customers the possibility to join Tehran from destinations around the world via our powerful hub at Paris-Charles de Gaulle,” said Frédéric Gagey, chairman & CEO of Air France.
The resumption of the Paris-Tehran route follows the easing of sanctions on Iran earlier this year. This has already led to a boon for European aerospace companies, with Iran having placed orders for more than 100 aircraft from Airbus and ATR.
