Air India has commenced a new route connecting Delhi with Moscow.
The national carrier launched the new direct flights between the capitals of India and Russia on Monday, using its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The route will now be operated four times a week, departing Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 0155 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and arriving at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport at 0615. The return leg will them take-off from Domodedovo at 0820, getting back into Delhi at 1530.
The launch comes shortly after Air India welcomed its 16th B787 Dreamliner. This new fuel-efficient jet comes equipped with 256 seats in two classes – 18 in business class and 238 in economy.
Despite the fact that India and Russia are both among the world’s 10 largest countries, in terms of size, population and GDP, the new route becomes only the second direct route between the two capitals.
Aeroflot currently flies direct to Delhi from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport.
