Air India yesterday formed a contingency plan to allow bookings on certain sectors from 16 May to 20 May. The airline will operate daily return flights to Paris, Frankfurt and London as per the schedule, while it also plans to club a few flights on Europe and US sector. “We are trying to operate a minimum number of international operations by clubbing flights to destinations in Europe and the US,” a senior Air India operations official told the Economic Times.
The ongoing Air India pilot strike entered its eighth day yesterday with no signs of resolution. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) nor the Air India management made any moves to initiate talks with the pilots. The agitating pilots tried meeting the Civil Aviation Minister, Ajit Singh on Monday but the meeting did not succeed.
“There is no initiative from either the management or the ministry to start a dialogue. At least some assurance can be given by them that our demands are justified and that they will seriously look at the issue. There is no question of resuming flights till the time sacked pilots are taken back,” said Jitendra Awhad, President of Indian Pilots Guild.
