The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the proposal of Minsitry of Civil Aviation to take delivery of 27 Boeing Dreamliner aircraft.
However, Air India will be allowed to take the delivery after signing the delay compensation settlement agreement with the manufacturer. “The issue relating to compensation for failure to meet performance guarantees has been delinked from the delay compensation settlement agreement, which shall be negotiated separately by an Empowered Group of Officers after actual evaluation of the inducted Boeing 787 aircraft,” CCEA said in a statement released by the PIB.
The airline plans to replace its Boeing 777 aircraft with Dreamliner aircraft on long-haul routes.
