Air India has moved its entire London operations at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 2, alongside its fellow Star Alliance carriers.
The national carrier operates multiple flights in and out of Heathrow, including two per day from Delhi, one from Mumbai, four per week from Ahmedabad and three per week to New York.
And it will now allow its passengers to connect more easily with its Star Alliance partners by moving all its flights to T2. Previously the airline operated from T4.
“With 24 of our member airlines flying to Heathrow, the airport is served by more Star Alliance member carriers than any other airport in our worldwide network. Therefore our long term strategy for Heathrow has always been to locate all our members under the same roof. With Air India’s successful move to the Queen’s Terminal we have now accomplished this,” said Jeffrey Goh, CEO of the Star Alliance.
Air India’s premium passengers and gold-level frequent flyers customers can now use any one of four airport lounges at T2, operated by fellow Star Alliance member airlines Air Canada, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines. They will also be able to make use of more than 80 multi-airline check-in kiosks in the departure hall.
T2, also known as The Queen’s Terminal, opened in June 2014 and now serves 24 Star Alliance carriers, operating more than 117 daily flights.
