Air India has launched a new route to the southern coastal city of Puducherry.

The new service links Bengaluru with the Union Territory and former French enclave, which was formerly known as Pondicherry.

Flights got underway on Tuesday 14 April 2015 and will now operate six times per week (every day except Wednesday), departing Bengaluru at 1535 and arriving in Puducherry an hour later. The return service then leaves at 1655, arriving back in Bengaluru at 1755.

All flights will be operated by Air India’s regional subsidiary, Alliance Air, using an ATR turboprop aircraft.

The new route will become Air India’s first service to Puducherry, and the flights are timed to allow passengers to connect to and from other key cities, including Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
