Air India to launch premium economy

Air India will launch a new premium economy cabin this month.
The Economic Times reported this week that the new cabin class will initially be rolled out on 15 February 2014, aboard a single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft operating the Delhi-Guwahati-Imphal route.
The premium economy seats will be placed at the front of the aircraft, with no business class cabin available. As well as offering slightly more legroom, Air India will allow its premium economy passengers to carry 35kg of luggage, compared to 20kg in economy, while ticket changes will be processed free-of-charge.
Meanwhile, Air India took delivery of its 12th Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft this month. The latest aircraft touched down in New Delhi on 1 February 2014 following a direct flight from Boeing’s headquarters in Seattle. It comes equipped with 256 seats in two cabins – 16 in business class and 238 in economy.
