Air New Zealand touches down in Texas

Air New Zealand has launched its inaugural flight between Auckland and Houston, Texas.
Flight NZ28 departed Auckland International Airport at 1830 on Tuesday evening, marking the launch of the airline’s second new trans-Pacific route in as many weeks, following the recent inauguration of its new Auckland-Buenos Aires flight.
The addition of Houston as Air New Zealand’s fifth destination in North America also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the airline’s first US flight.
“This week we mark 50 years of flying to the US – it’s a huge milestone and fantastic that as we celebrate this we also celebrate the operational launch of our latest US service which directly connects New Zealand to the heart of America’s south,” said Air New Zealand’s CEO, Christopher Luxon.
“We are committed to continuing to expand our Pacific Rim network and are excited to give our customers direct access to Houston and beyond.”
The new route will now operate five times a week, departing Auckland every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 0630 and arriving in Houston at 1315. The return service will then leave at 2035 and arrive back in Auckland at 0555 two days later. The flight time is approximately 14 hours.
Air New Zealand will operate the route using its Boeing 777-200 aircraft, which features SkyCouch seats in economy class.
