Air NZ agrees Sunshine Coast return
Air New Zealand has agreed to return to the Sunshine Coast for an extended season in 2013.
The airline, along with its alliance partner Virgin Australia, launched direct seasonal flights between the Queensland hub and Auckland earlier this year, and has now confirmed it will resume the service in summer 2013.
Twice weekly flights will start on 18 June 2013, but this time they will continue for 17 weeks until 13 October – five weeks longer than the 2012 season.
Flights will again be operated by Air NZ as part of its trans-Tasman codeshare arrangement with Virgin Australia.
“The return of this direct service with an extended season in 2013 demonstrates the undeniable demand for Kiwis to visit the Sunshine Coast.,” said Steve Cooper, CEO of Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd. “This is a real boost of confidence for our region and the tourism industry,” he added.
