Air Tahiti adds new aircraft

Air Tahiti has taken delivery of its first ATR 42-600 aircraft, as it moves to modernise its fleet.
The new turboprop aircraft is part of a total order for seven ATR aircraft, with the remaining planes – three ATR42-600s and four ATR72-600s – scheduled to be delivered over the next three years.
“With the arrival of these new ATR aircraft, our passengers will be able to benefit from the exceptional comfort of an ultra-modern cabin, which is an essential criterion for our quality of service and customer satisfaction,” said Maté Galénon, managing director of Air Tahiti.
“We have been preparing for the arrival of our new ATR-600s for more than a year. Our flight crews, engineers have already been trained and are ready to operate these new aircraft. Polynesia is looking forward to flying in the brand new ATRs.”
Based in the French Polynesian capital, Papeete, the new aircraft will initially be deployed on services to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. The ATR42-600 can seat up to 48 passengers.
Air Tahiti currently operates a fleet of 14 propeller aircraft, including 10 ATRs.
