Air Tahiti Nui has revealed that its new fleet of long-haul aircraft will be connected with broadband in-flight Wi-Fi.
The French Polynesian national carrier is planning to take delivery of four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners in the coming years, replacing its existing fleet of Airbus A340s.
And it has now been confirmed that these new jets will be equipped with Panasonic’s latest eX3 in-flight entertainment system and the ExConnect Wi-Fi system. This satellite-based network is aimed at offering internet speeds similar to those available on the ground.
“Our service covers a network of long-haul routes,” said Michel Monvoisin, CEO of Air Tahiti Nui. “We needed a solution that could truly serve our passenger demands for a reliable IFE system combined with broadband service. With the help of Panasonic Avionics, we are certain to offer clients an incredible entertainment experience with high-speed connectivity services that will keep them connected while travelling.”
In May 2015, Air Tahiti Nui announced its intention to replace its entire fleet with the new Dreamliners, which are scheduled to be delivered in 2018 and 2019. They will operate long-haul routes from Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, to Auckland, Los Angeles, Paris and Tokyo.
