AirAsia adopts English standards for cabin crew
All AirAsia cabin crew now have to pass an English language test.
The airline recently adopted the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) as its standardised English-language proficiency test. The tests will be administered by Eshia & Associates, and will gauge flight attendants’ level of competency in both spoken and written English.
“Our significant growth requires a workforce with excellent qualities and capabilities. Especially for front-liners like our flight attendants, they are in direct contact with our guests who sees them as representatives of the airline. They need to possess the essential qualities, good English speaking skills for instance, in order for them project a positive image and maintain the significance of our brand. This is one of the reasons for us to initiate this partnership with Eshia & Associates and ETS, in enhancing the quality of our FAs in the area of English communication,” said AirAsia’s Regional Head of People, Adzhar Ibrahim.
The test will be applicable for all AirAsia regions, including Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
