AirAsia cuts fees in Malaysia

TD Editor

AirAsia will remove processing fees for Malaysia for bookings made from 1 October to keep air travel affordable for all. Starting with Malaysia, AirAsia will subsequently remove processing fees for Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines effective 31 December.

The processing fee covers administrative, maintenance and developmental costs of the airline’s online systems to provide a secure booking environment. AirAsia said it would absorb the cost going forward.

Bo Lingam, president of AirAsia Group said: “We hope that by doing this, we will stay true to our promise – now everyone can fly. This is especially relevant now with higher passenger service charges (PSC) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (klia2). We want to cut travel costs, so our guests don’t suffer. With Visit Malaysia 2020 coming up next year, we hope this will also encourage more people to travel to and within Malaysia.”
