AirAsia is expanding in China, with the launch of flights to city of Nanning.

Commencing 11 December, the low-cost carrier will operate direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Nanning – the capital of southern China’s Guangxi region.

Flights will operate three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, using an Airbus A320 aircraft. It will become the first and only direct flight between KL and Nanning, and the AirAsia Group’s 22nd route into China.

“China is a great market for us to explore and expand our route network and connectivity,” said Kathleen Tan, AirAsia’s Group Head of Commercial. “We are glad to be able to provide the only direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Nanning and we are confident that flight loads will pick-up once we open this new destination for sale, especially with the importance of Nanning as a city that works closely with the ASEAN countries to promote investment and trade between China and ASEAN.”

Home to an estimated 6.7 million people, Nanning is an important regional business hub and the gateway to the Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area.

The flights, which are already in sale, will depart KL at 1325 and arrive in Nanning at 1645. The return service departs at 1730, arriving back into KL at 2050.
