AirAsia’s inaugural flight is welcomed at Sihanoukville Airport

AirAsia has launched its first flights to Sihanoukville, Cambodia’s main coastal resort.

This week, the low-cost carrier commenced a new non-stop service which will now operate four times a week direct from Kuala Lumpur. Sihanoukville becomes AirAsia’s third destination in Cambodia, following Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.

“As a truly ASEAN airline, it remains as our commitment to drive tourism efforts to all countries that we operate in especially within the region,” said Spencer Lee, AirAsia’s head of commercial. “This coastal city in Cambodia presents great potential and dynamic opportunities in terms of tourism, trade and economy which we are happy to be a part of this journey to develop Sihanoukville further.”

Under the new schedule, AirAsia’s flights will depart KLIA2 every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1215 and arrive in Sihanoukville at 1300. The return flights then take off at 1340 and land back in Malaysia at 1630. The route will be operated by an all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft.

AirAsia becomes the first airline to operate the KL-Sihanoukville route and the first non-Cambodian carrier to serve all three of the country’s international airports. It also offers three daily flights from Kuala Lumpur to Phnom Penh and two daily direct services to Siem Reap.
