AirAsia has announced plans to launch flights to Adelaide – its fifth destination in Australia.
Commencing on 30 October 2013, the low-cost carrier’s long-haul arm, AirAsia X, will initially operate four weekly flights to the South Australian state capital. Services will depart Kuala Lumpur on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, before rising to daily during the December-February peak season.
“We are thrilled to announce that AirAsia X is finally jetting into Adelaide, which means now every Adelaidian can fly to Southeast Asia and beyond and vice versa,” said AirAsia X’s CEO, Azran Osman-Rani.
“Australia is one of our core markets where AirAsia X will see its wings expand and the Adelaide route has been a priority. Our goal since launching our first Australian service on the Gold Coast in 2007 was to operate in the five major states, and we are proud to have accomplished this within six years,” he added.
Passengers will be able to use AirAsia’s ‘Fly-Thru’ service, which enables single-ticket travel and connections to AirAsia’s flights from KL to other regional destinations, including Bali, Jakarta, Osaka, Kota Kinabalu, Penang, Singapore, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok, Phuket and Ho Chi Minh City.
Adelaide will become AirAsia X’s fifth Australian destination after the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The route will be operated using a 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
