AirAsia has touched down in Adelaide for the first time.
The low-cost carrier’s long-haul subsidiary, AirAsia X, commenced direct flights to the South Australian city today (31 October 2013), marking the start of a new four-times-a-week service direct from Kuala Lumpur.
The route will be operated using a 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft with business and economy class cabins.
“We are thrilled to finally touchdown into Adelaide as it would mean that now guests from the Southeast Asia region across the AirAsia Group network and beyond can fly to Adelaide,” said Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X.
“Australia is a huge part of our core focus, and Australians can expect to see us expand our operations further in this vitally important market in the future,” he added.
Passengers from Adelaide to KL will also be able to use AirAsia’s ‘Fly-Thru’ service to connect to destinations across Asia, without the need to check-in twice.
AirAsia now operates to six Australian destinations – Adelaide, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
