Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia X has unveiled its latest connection to China.
Commencing on 13 February 2015, the airline will operate four weekly flights to the city of Chongqing. Services will operate every Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 1600 and arriving at Chongqing’s Jiangbei International Airport at 2200. The return flight will then leave Chongqing at 2355, getting back into KL at 0415 the following morning.
All services will be operated using AirAsia X’s 377-seat Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with business and economy class cabins.
“The addition of the Kuala Lumpur–Chongqing route enables us to further strengthen our route network into China,” said Bernard Francis, commercial director of AirAsia X. “AirAsia X is very positive about our growth in China and the addition of this new route will further fortify the point.
“With Chongqing added on our network, we expect to see our total revenue increase to over 17% with more than one million guests flying into/from our China routes from Kuala Lumpur this year,” he added.
Chongqing will become AirAsia X’s sixth destination in China, following Hangzhou, Chengdu, Beijing, Shanghai and Xi’an. Once the flights launch, AirAsia X will be the only airline offering direct flights between KL and Chongqing.
