Latvian carrier airBaltic has announced it will launch flights between Aberdeen and Riga next year.
The new route will commence on 30 March 2014 and operate four days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
The service is expected to be popular with both business and leisure travellers, with onward connections available to Baku, Azerbaijan; Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia; Warsaw, Poland and Kiev and Odessa, Ukraine.
“The energy industry will benefit from this route, and many of our business passengers will value this service into Riga as well as the onward connections that serving this hub will provide. On top of that it will be welcomed by our leisure passengers who see Riga as a popular short break destination,” said Carol Benzie, managing director of Aberdeen Airport.
