Germany’s airberlin has appointed a new General Sales Agent (GSA) in India.

Aviareps, which has an office in Mumbai, will now represent the airline in the Indian market, with a mission to strengthen its relationships with the Indian travel trade, enhance public awareness and boost sales from India.

To achieve this, Aviareps will conduct sales calls to Indian travel agents and corporate customers, host training sessions for the travel trade, and also function as airberlin’s press and marketing representative in India.

Along with India’s Jet Airways, airberlin is a member of the newly-formed Etihad Airways Partners alliance.

“We are very excited to be representing airberlin which is one of Europe’s leading carriers,” said Joseph Fernandes, general manager for Aviareps India. “We see a lot of potential for airberlin in India given the strong worldwide network, outstanding service levels and close partnership with Etihad Airways.”

Through its partnership with Etihad, airberlin offers codeshare flights from six destinations. It is also a member of the oneworld alliance, allowing for an even greater number of connections.

airberlin is currently sellable on all GDS systems on the EY 706 document and will further enhance its distribution in India by joining IATA BSP. airberlin’s two letter flight code is AB.
