Airbus CEO ‘very relaxed’ about battery issue
Airbus has studied alternatives to the lithium-ion batteries for its A350 XWB, the company’s CEO has revealed, adding he was ‘very relaxed’ about the situation.
Fabrice Bregier told reporters recently that the European plane maker was studying its options in the wake of the problems experienced with the batteries on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
“We studied the integration of these batteries on the A350 very carefully,” Bregier was quoted by Reuters.
The lithium-ion batteries that are under investigation are only used in the B787. The A350 is currently under development and is scheduled to enter commercial service in 2014.
