Airbus delivers new A320 to China Eastern
China Eastern Airlines has taken delivery of a new Airbus A320 aircraft.
The single-aisle aircraft comes fitted with 158 passengers in two classes – eight in business class and 150 in economy. It also becomes the first Chinese A320 to come equipped with ‘sharklets’, the new wing-tip extensions that are designed to reduce drag and save fuel.
“As the first and biggest Airbus customer in China, China Eastern and Airbus have long-term good cooperation. China Eastern is honoured to be the first customer of A320 with sharklets in China. In the near future, China Eastern will further expand our sharklet equipped A320 family fleet”, said Shu Mingjiang, China Eastern’s Vice President of Flight Operations.
The new A320 was delivered to China Eastern from Airbus’ Chinese factory in Tianjin, making it the 126th aircraft produced at the facility. It was put into service on Saturday on the route from Shanghai to Dalian.
