Airbus has signed a deal with Vietnamese low-cost carrier Vietjet to provide flight and maintenance training services in Ho Chi Minh City.
Under the agreement, which was signed at the Singapore Airshow, Vietjet’s exiting flight training centre will host an Airbus A320 flight simulator to conduct flight crew training for the airline’s A320 fleet. This will mark Airbus’ first flight training centre in Vietnam.
“Vietjet and Airbus have effectively collaborated with each other, and this agreement once again marks a new milestone for both organisations,” said Dinh Viet Phuong, vice president of Vietjet.
“Airbus’ training expertise will help enforce Vietjet’s capabilities in flight and maintenance training to be in line with internationally recognised standards. Investment in an aviation institute is one of the most important goals in Vietjet’s sustainable growth strategies.”
From the HCMC base, Airbus will provide training services to Vietjet using the Airbus Competence Training (ACT) classroom concept, in line with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards.
The centre will focus on training pilots, engineers, mechanics, flight dispatchers and flight trainers.
“We are delighted to expand our services footprint in Vietnam with our first training services agreement in the country,” said Didier Lux, head of customer service for Airbus. “Teaming up with Vietjet is a major milestone to deliver training by Airbus in the region, and it ensures more efficient service, support and proximity to our customers.”
