Alitalia has opened a new ticketing office at Italy’s VFS Global visa application centre. The opening was inaugurated by a ribbon-cutting event by HE Giorgio Starace, Italian ambassador to the UAE. Also attending were Joanne Mitchell, Alitalia country manager for UAE and Ganesh Ullal, marketing director for Omeir Travel Agency, Alitalia’s general sales agent in Abu Dhabi.
Joanne Mitchell, Alitalia country manager for UAE said: “This new sales outlet is yet another positive opportunity for expanding our reach to the local market. It also underscores our commitment to working together with the Italian Embassy for promotion of visitors to Italy.”
Alitalia started operating flights to Abu Dhabi in December 2012 in conjunction with codeshare partner Etihad Airways. The direct Abu Dhabi-Rome service, operated by the Italian carrier, flies five weekly return Airbus A330 services.
