Allure of the Seas to undergo motor repairs

Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas will be pulled out of service for a week in February to fix some mechanical issues.
The 5,400-passenger ship will go through repairs in the Bahamas on 24 February to fix one of its three propulsion motors.
The motor can still be used until then but limits the top speed the liner can travel at, so there have been minor timing tweaks to itineraries in the eastern Caribbean.
In addition the ship’s sailing on 23 February 2014 has been cancelled, with passengers able to receive a full refund.
“While Allure could have continued to sail at a reduced rate of speed, we felt it was important to fix the problem as soon as possible,” William Baumgartner, senior vice president of marine operations for parent company Royal Caribbean Cruises, said in a statement. “We explored numerous repair options. Unfortunately, there was no satisfactory solution that did not involve taking the ship temporarily out of service.”
