Amari makes debut in Sri Lanka

Onyx Hospitality Group has launched a brand new Amari hotel the historic city of Galle, marking the upscale brand’s entry into Sri Lanka.

The 172-room Amari Galle is a beachfront hotel located on the main Colombo-Galle road. All rooms feature private balconies with ocean views, while the 360m² presidential suite offers a roof terrace and private plunge pool.

Facilities at the hotel include a restaurant, rooftop bar, beach club, 24-hour lounge, swimming pools, a kids’ club and spa. And for the MICE market, Amari Galle features three meeting rooms and a 250-pax ballroom.

“Originally from Thailand and expanding across Asia, Amari has a rich and long-standing heritage and is well known amongst travellers worldwide,” said Douglas Martell, president & CEO of Onyx. “With the opening of our first Amari in Sri Lanka, we are building a service culture which combine Asian hospitality values and the deep-rooted local customs.”

As well as being the first Amari hotel in Sri Lanka, the new property joins Onyx’s two existing midscale hotels in the country: Ozo Colombo and Ozo Kandy. Amari Galle also becomes the brand’s third opening of 2017, following Amari Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Amari Yangshuo in China.
