Anantara has continued its rapid recent expansion with the launch of its first hotel in Chiang Mai.
The luxury resort brand’s parent company, Minor Hotel Group, has taken over the management of The Chedi Chiang Mai from GHM and rebranded it as the Anantara Chiang Mai Resort & Spa. The resort becomes the world’s 26 the Anantara, closely following the launch of the Anantara Angkor Resort & Spa, and the 100th property in Minor’s portfolio.
“The announcement of our 100th property is an important milestone for Minor Hotel Group and one we are very proud to achieve,” said Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of the Minor Hotel Group.
“The fact that our 100th property is such a significant addition to the portfolio, both with it being such a stunning resort and the strategic addition of a Chiang Mai property to our Thailand collection of Anantara properties, makes it even more special. Chiang Mai is a key destination in Thailand and one we have been looking at for development opportunities for a long time, adding the perfect dot on the map.”
Anantara Chiang Mai is a boutique resort set on the banks of the Mae Ping River in northern Thailand. It offers 84 rooms and suites ranging in size from 50 to 100m², each featuring a river-facing balcony with large daybed.
Hotel facilities include a 34-metre riverside pool, a fitness centre with river views, an Anantara Spa and four restaurants and bars, including one set in the 90-year-old former British consulate house.
For the corporate and events market, the hotel includes a meeting room and boardroom, plus a riverside wedding venue with indoor and outdoor areas.
Anantara Chiang Mai Resort & Spa becomes the brand’s 11th property in Thailand, and joins the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort in the north of the country.
