Cambodia will welcome another new airline next month, when Lanmei Airlines takes to the skies.
The Phnom Penh Post reports that the new carrier will be based in the Cambodian capital and will initially operate flights from Phnom Penh to Hanoi and Siem Reap, and onwards from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh City and Macau.
The inaugural service is due to take off on 15 September 2017 using a single-aisle Airbus A320 aircraft.
Cambodia went several years without an airline, prior to the launch of Cambodia Angkor Air in 2009. Since then however, a series of new players have entered the market, with JC International Airlines becoming Cambodia’s fifth air carrier when it launched flights earlier this year. Like JC International, Lanmei Airlines is backed by Chinese investment.
