The Hotel Booking Agents Association (HBAA) has included apartment accommodation in its Code of Conduct.
The move comes as the association’s members have seen a shift in the corporate market to use apartments instead of traditional hotels. Apartment accommodation is favoured for its cost effectiveness and “duty of care” by helping travellers feel like they are at home.
“The HBAA Code of Conduct is recognised for providing best practices between hotels, venues and intermediaries. It was crucial that we brought apartments into the fold, as we see this as a huge area of expansion for both the HBAA and corporate decision makers,” said Peter Ducker, executive director of the HBAA.
There are more than 1,400 serviced apartment properties in the UK, with more than 500 in London.
The change in its Code of Conduct comes as HBAA prepares for its annual forum this week on 6 and 7 September. The two-day conference will include analysis and debate with key speakers and workshops focusing on crisis management, sales and event technology.
