The famous Montreux Jazz Festival turns 50 this year, and to mark the anniversary a new Montreux Jazz Cafe will open in Singapore.

In its 50-year history, the annual Swiss jazz festival last appeared in Singapore in 2005. But it will return in October 2016 with the launch of the new Montreux Jazz Café Singapore at the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel. This will become the chain’s first ever branch in the Asia Pacific region.

With a capacity of up to 500 guests, the venue will play host to live music, including local and regional acts. It will also feature a menu of musically-themed dishes such as the BB Burger, Coquelet facon Quincy Jones, and Ella’s Cheesecake.

“Montreux Jazz Café Singapore will become the crown jewel of live music royalty as the only venue of its kind in Asia. Our cafes are ambassadors for the Montreux Jazz Festival and Singapore now joins the likes of Zurich, Paris and Abu Dhabi as a world-leader in jazz-inspired music and upscale dining,” said Montreux Jazz Festival’s director, Mathieu Jaton.

Switzerland’s Ambassador to Singapore, Thomas Kupfer commented; “The Montreux Jazz Festival is one of the most loved and exciting musical brands globally, so we believe the opening of the Montreux Jazz Café in Singapore will undoubtedly be received very enthusiastically by a wide and diverse audience from around the region who not only enjoy live music, but are looking for experiential entertainment and dining.

“Over the last 50 years, Switzerland and Singapore have maintained excellent ties, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to strengthen and build another link between the two countries.”

This year’s Montreux Jazz Festival takes place on the shores of Lake Geneva from 1-16 July, and the Montreux Jazz Cafe Singapore will launch in early October. It will become only the sixth Montreux Jazz Cafe in the world and the third outside Switzerland, following Paris and Abu Dhabi.
