Asian airport traffic continues strong growth

Passenger traffic at airports in the Asia Pacific region continued its upward trajectory in April 2012. 

According to the latest data from the Airports Council International (ACI), passenger traffic in the Asia Pacific region increased 9.5% year-on-year. International traffic jumped 13.7% in April, while domestic passenger through-flow climbed 7.6%.

Beijing continued to record the region’s highest passenger traffic, with more than 6.7 million passengers. Tokyo Haneda, with more than five million passengers, was second, while Bangkok, Jakarta and Hong Kong all registered in excess of 4.6 million passengers.

Passenger traffic for the first four months of 2012 showed a similar rate of growth, up 9.3% year-on-year.
