Asia’s first Legoland to open in September
Merlin Entertainments Group has announced that Asia’s first Legoland theme park will open on 15 September this year.
Legoland Malaysia will cover 30.8 hectares in the southern state of Johor. Focusing on attractions for children aged between two and 12, the theme park will feature more than 40 rides and attractions.
“Our official opening date has been something we’ve had a lot of enquiries from the public on since the park broke ground in December 2009. I’m pleased to announce that due to the hard work of all of our contractors we will now be opening Legoland Malaysia ahead of schedule by a number of months,” said the park’s General Manager, Siegfried Boerst. “Rather appropriately we will be opening the day before Malaysia Day which happens to be a long weekend,” he added.
Merlin revealed that park is now approximately 75% finished with most of the rides and infrastructure already in place. Last month the contractors began work on the external design of the park and next month they will begin the installation of 50 million Lego bricks and models.
