Australia’s Alliance Aviation has agreed to purchase Austrian Airlines’ entire fleet of Fokker aircraft.
The company, which mainly operates “fly-in fly-out” services for the resources sector, will acquire the 21 Fokker aircraft for US$15 million. The deal comprises 15 Fokker 100s and six Fokker 70s.
Austrian Airlines is selling its Fokkers as part of a fleet modernisation programme that will see it start taking delivery of a new fleet of Embraer E195 aircraft in 2016. The Fokkers will be gradually transferred to Alliance Aviation between December 2015 and December 2017.
Alliance Aviation currently operates a fleet of 15 Fokker 100 and eight Fokker 70 aircraft from its bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland.
