Avalon Waterways is gearing up to the delivery of its new river cruise ship as its programme goes on sale later this month. The new ship, named Avalon Angkor, is due to be delivered next year and will tour Vietnam,Cambodia and China from April 2012 to March 2013.
It has been specially designed to cruise from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap, which cuts the usual coach travelling time by seven hours. It has just 16 staterooms and floor-to-ceiling glass doors.
“2012 will be a landmark year for us as we launch three new ships including an industry first, the Avalon Angkor,” said Alan MacLean, managing director at Avalon Waterways. “Interest has been strong already as passengers who have travelled on one of our European cruises are becoming more adventurous, wanting to discover different cultures and countries but with the same high level of service and facilities they have already enjoyed with us”.
The ship will be featured in the tour operator’s new brochure, which goes on sale 24 November.
