South America is now much closer to Europe as Avianca has launched the new service from Munich to Bogotá. Munich is now the only German destination served non-stop by the Colombian carrier.

“We’re delighted that Avianca has chosen Munich. The airline honoured as the best carrier in South America will now be landing at the best airport in Europe,” said Dr Michael Kerkloh, the President and CEO of Munich Airport, attending the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Hernán Rincón, the CEO of Avianca and the President of Avianca Holdings S.A. added: “We’re proud to offer this service to our passengers and to expand our route network. With the addition of Munich, we now fly to 110 destinations in 27 countries.”

The new service will offer flights five times a week. Passengers flying to Bogotá will benefit from the wide range of connecting flights to other destinations in Latin America – such as flights to 20 Colombian cities and 60 other destinations in South America, including Mexico, the Caribbean and across the South American continent.

Avianca is the world’s second-oldest airline. It will serve the Munich route with Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner.
