Banyan Tree has committed to a sustainable future following the signing of a global tie-up with EC3 Global, the environmental company that manages the EarthCheck benchmarking programme.
The commercial arm of Banyan Tree, GPS Development Services (GPS), which provides development and technical support to the group, has penned a memorandum of understanding with EC3 Global.
The deal will see GPS offer project planning, development management, green technical advice and engineering technology to third parties, while EC3 Global will offer advice and expertise on destination management, building planning and design standards, plus destination planning and certification.
Commenting on the partnership, Stewart Moore, CEO of EC3 Global said; “The sustainability challenges of tomorrow will demand a new set of professional design skills and innovation. The partnership with GPS will offer our clients an integrated set of planning and design solutions.”
Banyan Tree added that the partnership would enable GPS to leverage EC3 Global’s portfolio of more than 1,300 clients, bringing additional revenue streams to the group.
“With this alliance, GPS is able to ramp up its pipeline of external clients in new markets and work together with EC3 to offer a multi-disciplinary team that can provide end-to-end solutions for our clients,” said Lim See Bee, Executive Director of GPS. “This partnership also enables GPS to provide confidence to development approval agencies that all aspects of the project have been considered through an independent assessment of sustainability performance.”
Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts has also renewed its partnership with EarthCheck, confirming the participation of its portfolio of hotels and resorts in the environmental benchmarking scheme. This will see hotels continue to monitor and reduce their energy, water, waste, community, paper and pesticide use.
