Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts is planning to expand in China with the launch of new urban resorts in Shanghai and Tianjin.
Opening in October and November 2012 respectively, the Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund and Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside will add to the company’s portfolio of city-based properties, which includes the recently-opened Banyan Tree Macau and luxury hotels in Bangkok and Seoul.
“Following the successful launch of Banyan Tree Macau, our first urban resort in China, we are pleased to continue this trend with openings in the key cities of Shanghai and Tianjin. Banyan Tree is poised to expand exponentially in China in the next three years and these two resorts will set the stage for the brand to be synonymous with luxury in the hospitality space,” said Banyan Tree’s CEO, Abid Butt.
Located on the banks of the Huangpu River, as part of the ‘Above the Bund Urban Complex Project’ which also includes a yacht club, Banyan Tree Shanghai on the Bund will offer 130 suites, all with river views. The Banyan Suite will feature its own swimming pool – a first for the Shanghai hotel scene.
The resort will also mark the debut of a new concept called ‘Banyan Tree Host’; essentially a group of concierges of different nationalities catering for the individual needs of guests. Other facilities will include four F&B outlets, a rooftop bar, conference facilities and a Banyan Tree Spa with 11 treatment rooms.
The Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside meanwhile, will offer 159 suites on the banks of the Hai River. Most rooms will feature large windows overlooking the river, while many bathrooms will come with round bathtub also offering a river views. The hotel will also feature a range of F&B outlets and a Banyan Tree Spa.
