Barrhead Travel has today become the first CAA accredited body to place client monies in a CAA Trust Fund.
The Scottish agency group will now automatically put their customers’ money into the trust fund to ensure payments are protected in the result of a failure.
The new fund has been put in place more than two weeks ahead of the CAA’s deadline of 1 May.
Sue Jarvis, Barrhead Travel commercial finance director, said: “Thanks to the technology available to us at Barrhead Travel, recently implemented processes and procedures are now so streamlined that it was evident that we’d be ahead of the pack when it came to implementation. We embraced the changes from the CAA and had a well-planned strategy to ensure that we exceeded the deadline by quite a margin.”
Sharon Munro, chief executive, added: “The new procedure ring-fences our customers’ money and provides increased protection. We made it a company priority and I’m pleased to be able to roll this out weeks in advance of the CAA’s deadline.”
