Bengaluru Airport clocks 100 millionth passenger

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport has welcomed its 100 millionth passenger, after less than eight years of operations.
The landmark passenger, Vinay Kulkarni, arrived in Jet Airways flight from Mumbai and was greeted by the airport’s management.
Commenting on this feat, GV Sanjay Reddy, managing director of Bengaluru International Airport Ltd (BIAL) said; “This is a very special moment for all of us at BIAL. The achievement comes within eight years of operations and is a testimony to our ability to meet the rapid demand and growth of the domestic and international air traffic.”
Bengaluru airport handled 18.1m passengers in the 2015 calendar year, with an average of 52,000 passengers per day. The airport’s new Terminal 1, which began operations in February 2014, has the capacity to handle 20m passengers annually, and work is continuing on a new Terminal 2.
Kempegowda International Airport is now served by 44 airlines and connected to 67 destinations in India and around the world.
