Best Western has opened its first hotel in the northeast Thai city of Buriram.
The Best Western Royal Hotel in Buriram, 395km northeast of Bangkok, will offer 81 rooms and suites, all featuring free Wi-Fi. The midscale hotel will also feature a restaurant, internet corner and an outdoor swimming pool.
Glenn de Souza, Best Western’s vice president of international operations for Asia & the Middle East, said the opening was part of the company’s strategy to develop across the ASEAN region.
“With the onset of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015, eastern Thailand sits at the crossroads of one of the world’s biggest growth zones,” said de Souza.
“Located close to the border with Cambodia and on the key route between Bangkok, Laos and Vietnam, Buriram is at the heart of ASEAN. The relaxing of visa policies, along with the development of the Asian Highway and Trans-Asian Railway networks, means both business and leisure travellers will soon be able to travel across the ASEAN region faster, and in greater numbers.
“With our hotels in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, as well as our recently-announced properties in Myanmar, [we are] delighted to be able to offer international-standard accommodation to travellers across the region,” he added.
The Best Western Royal Hotel will become Best Western’s 17th hotel in Thailand, while Buriram will become its ninth destination in the country, following Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Phuket, Khao Lak, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Krabi.
