bmi regional has revealed it plans to grow its charter and wet lease air services in the next year as it marks two years of operating independently.
The carrier, which broke off after IAG bought out bmi in 2012, will focus on intra-European routes including those connecting cities in Germany and Sweden.
In the UK increased frequencies are planned for the East Midlands to Brussels and Aberdeen to Bristol routes from September.
bmi regional ended 2013 carrying almost 500,000 passengers with routes including services from Bristol, Birmingham and Aberdeen as well as others in France and Scandinavia.
This year a Newcastle-Brussel service started while a codeshare agreement with Lufthansa boosted its German connections.
Cathal O’Connell, chief executive at bmi regional, said: “Thus far in 2014 we have seen significant traffic growth across our route network, especially Bristol and our oil and gas services from Aberdeen, and expect this to continue through the rest of the year.”
