Air India has taken delivery of its 20th Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The new aircraft features the Star Alliance livery, becoming the first Dreamliner in the world to do so. Air India carrier joined the alliance last year.
“Taking delivery of our 20th 787 Dreamliner marks an important day for Air India,” said Rohit Nandan, chairman & managing director of Air India.
“With this airplane we are building on the success of our other 787s, which are providing an exceptional experience to our passengers while allowing us to expand our network both within India and around the world.”
Air India equips its B787-8s with 256 seats – 18 in business class and 238 in economy. It plans to take delivery of one more B787-8, along with six larger B787-9s.
“Today Air India joins an elite group of airlines who have taken delivery of 20 or more 787s,” said Dinesh Keskar, Boeing’s senior vice president of sales for Asia Pacific & India.
The other airlines to have welcomed 20 B787s include ANA, Japan Airlines and Qatar Airways.
