Boeing continued to accelerate its aircraft deliveries in the third quarter of the year.

The US planemaker delivered a total of 186 commercial jets in Q3 2014, compared to 170 in the same period last year.

Once again this growth was led by demand for single-aisle aircraft; Boeing delivered a total of 120 B737s in the quarter, up 7.1% year-on-year. But the most significant growth was seen in the B787 Dreamliner programme, which saw a 34.8% increase in deliveries to 31 aircraft. Deliveries of the B747 and B777 remained fairly even.

For the first nine months of 2014, Boeing has now delivered 528 aircraft. This compares to 476 aircraft at this point last year, and means the company is on track to exceed last year’s record total of 648 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Boeing has delivered its latest B787 Dreamliner to Air India. The new 256-seat aircraft arrived in New Delhi on 3 October 2014, becoming the 17th such aircraft to join the national carrier’s fleet.
