Boeing has signed an exclusive pilot training agreement with Thai Airways International (THAI).
The new deal will see Boeing Flight Services provide training for nearly 50 flights crews by the end of the year. Pilots will be trained to operate the new B787 Dreamliner aircraft at Boeing’s Singapore campus.
THAI took delivery of its sixth B787-8 in August 2015, with two B787-9s scheduled to be delivered in 2017.
“We are very pleased to provide THAI with the industry’s best flight training as they expand their 787 fleet,” said Sherry Carbary, vice president of Boeing Flight Services. “Our Singapore campus is strategically located for airlines in the region to learn from our highly qualified instructors – some of the best in the business.”
According to Boeing’s latest forecast, airlines based in the Asia Pacific region will need to hire 226,000 new commercial airline pilots in the next 20 years.
