Etihad Airways’ first ever Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner rolled out of Boeing’s factory in Seattle, painted with the airline’s new livery.
The brand new design was first revealed last week, on one of Etihad’s new Airbus A380s. And the modern new livery has now been introduced to the airline’s new Dreamliner fleet, the first of which is due to be delivered to Etihad in December 2014.
“We have firm orders for more than 100 Boeing wide-body aircraft which include 41 787-9s and 30 787-10s,” said James Hogan, president & CEO of Etihad. “Our new fleet of B787s will set customer service expectations for the airline industry, delivering the highest levels of comfort and choice across all classes of service.”
More than 40 international routes have so far been identified for future operation by the airline’s Dreamliners. The aircraft will initially fly to Dusseldorf and Doha, with services to Brisbane, Mumbai, Moscow and Washington DC following in the first half of 2015.
The aircraft will offer three cabin classes, including Etihad’s brand new ‘first suites’ which have their own personal minibars, ‘business studio’ with pneumatically-adjustable flat-bed seats, and new ‘economy smart’ seats. All cabins will offer Panasonic’s latest eX3 in-flight entertainment system.
Etihad’s new ‘Facets of Abu Dhabi’ livery features a modern geometric design and colours that are intended to reflect “the varying hues of the landscape of the UAE”.
