Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Boudicca ship has remained in Tenerife for repair work following an engine fire onboard on Sunday.

The ship arrived in the Canary Islands on Tuesday and will stay in Tenerife tomorrow for engineers to complete work and authorities to assess any damage.

The cruise line’s managing director Mike Rodwell and several of its head office team flew out to the Spanish island to greet passengers and the ship when it arrived.

Services resumed on the ship while it was still at sea and have continued to run while it is in port.

A revised itinerary will be shared in due course.

Boudicca departed Southampton on 20 January for an 18-night ‘Cape Verde & the Canaries’ cruise and had visited Cadiz on 24 January before the fire in the early hours of 25 January. The blaze was contained in the engine room. None of the 784 passengers or 356 crew members were injured.
