Bourne Leisure has become the first member of a new scheme launched by the Women 1st initiative.
The group, which consists of Haven, Warner Leisure Hotels and Butlins, is the first corporation to sign up to the initiative and use its training and mentoring programmes alongside individual members.
Women 1st is a firm that aims to increase the number of women on boards across the hospitality, transport, travel and tourism industries and has seen a boost in interest from businesses since its inaugural conference.
“At a time when our industries are crying out for skilled managers and leaders, there are thousands of talented women who can step up to the plate – but they need the right support. Our membership programmes are designed to give businesses the opportunity to give female staff the skills, confidence and inspiration so they can feel empowered to take their careers to the next level,” said Sharon Glancy, founder of Women 1st.
“Boardroom diversity is moving up the political agenda and there are a number of enlightened businesses taking proactive steps to bridge the gender gap,” she added.
